Gala and Up-Close Events

Every year we seek to innovate and raise the bar in terms of production – be prepared for something very special!

• The show features an original soundtrack by Alluvium and exquisite visuals.

• Local and national models showcase the garments.

• Ten awards will be presented on the night.

• 50% of the finalists are international artists, with four Tasmanian and several high-profile national designers represented.

• The paranaple arts centre foyer will be transformed, with patrons to be led through a stunning paper garden installation.

• The garden has been months in the making, created during a series of community workshops led by paper artist Stephanie Reynolds.

In keeping with the prestige of the night, we encourage you to glam up.

By public demand we are finally doing it…

An Up-Close Showcase and Q&A with Paper on Skin™ artists!

This will be held at the exclusive Basalt Restaurant, The Cove.

With the prestigious 2026 awards newly announced at the Gala the night before, a selection of winning pieces will be presented at Basalt Restaurant for an exclusive and intimate ‘up-close’ experience.

The event will commence with a special Welcome to Country, dance performance and a shared cultural experience.

This part of the program will be led by local palawa artist and dancer, Karen Smart and the Treenoner Dance Mob.

Patrons will have the opportunity to graze, enjoy some bubbles, and view the award-winning Paper on Skin™ works – up-close!

A Q&A will enable our panel of visiting artists to reveal insights about their painstaking work and the joys and challenges of creating wearable paper garments.
