Tica, Antoaneta (ROM),
Nothing to Wear
NOTHING TO WEAR
The work is made from several textures that suggest materials highly valued in fashion history, such as fur and beads, complemented by a dress made of clothing labels. Highly decorative, often luxurious and precious, these are potent symbols of femininity and the continuous desire to purchase clothes that we wear too rarely, sometimes never.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Antoaneta tica
Antoaneta Tica is a Romanian visual artist interested in climate change and environmental awareness. She draws attention to different issues of pollution not only through the approached topics, but also through the medium she choose. Therefore, her works are created mainly by transforming various recycled materials (plastic, paper, textiles, pieces of old technology), otherwise discarded in the field. The opposition between the contaminating materials and the beauty and the purity of the untamed nature is the main artist’s source of inspiration. Appreciating the unpredictability of life, Antoaneta Tica creates often without sketches and lets the working materials guide her imagination. The innovative textures are elaborate by experiments which radically transform the polluting materials, making them unrecognisable
