About the piece
Burnie Bride of Yesteryear reflects the history of Burnie and the key place of paper making within that history. The piece is a replica dress worn in the 1920's by a local bride. The photograph is housed in the Burnie Regional Museum.
The key material used is toilet paper, highlighting the uses of an affordable material to create a dress which is traditionally expensive but only used once. (Edited from Design Concept submitted for entry).
Materials used: Toilet paper, tissue paper, butchers paper, paper doyleys, paper mache, glue, cotton banding, Velcro fasteners and pearl beading.
