What Falls Away
What Falls Away explores the quiet but powerful process of transformation through release; a moment of shedding revealing growth not through addition, but through subtraction.

Shouldn’t every material have the chance, even just once, to look its absolute best? To break free from the conforms of the life for which it was produced and manufactured, and be reimagined into something extraordinary?
Louise’s art practice focuses predominantly on her two passion areas of wearable art, particularly using recycled and repurposed materials, and contemporary abstract art.
She loves the challenge of reimagining an everyday waste material into an art piece. Using processes such as applying heat, water, sewing, cutting, to breathe new life into a material. Of reimagining an item or material into a high fashion outfit; the thrill of an audience trying to establish what the material would have, could have, been in its previous life. Challenging people to think about the waste they generate and to consider the potential use of materials before they automatically throw them away.
Louise has lived life with a strong connection to nature, and it is this that provides inspiration for her work; textures, layers, colours, intricate details, patterns, sustainability, environmental impact and conscience. She is also inspired by pop culture trends, couture fashion, and contemporary design.
Her work has a high level of detail, intricate and precise design, layers of textures and repetition, and a high fashion feel. Louise’s intention is to create wearable art that at first glance appears to have stepped off a fashion runway; couture, bespoke, intriguing materials and design, fashion presence, flattering and beautiful. It holds its own on the catwalk and is a stand-alone beautiful garment. Yet the closer you get to looking at it, the details become apparent; not only the details in the design and construction, but the materials used. She wants to spark the viewers’ curiosity, challenge their perceptions, and send them on a journey of discovery as to the ‘low end’ everyday items and materials that have been morphed and transformed into a ‘high end’ fashion piece.
